Sad News news article
As we set up our boats etc at the Nott’s County TT on Wednesday 31st of July, it was with great sadness that we were told that our good friend Geoff Gibbons had died the night before. Geoff had been in hospital and I believe he suffered a heart attack.
Geoff was a much loved member of Rutland Sailability and was a key member of the Access Sailing team. He was also a valued member of our ACA(UK) committee for many years.
Geoff was an active racing sailor from the start of Access racing in the UK. It was always a pleasure to see him in his 2.3 dicing with the fleet and on occasions snatching a much deserved win.
Off the water Geoff was fun to be with and probably one of the most caring and helpful people you could meet. Geoff was blessed with healing hands and he in turn blessed many people with them.
Geoff was a pleasure to be with on or off the water, affectionately known among his friends as "little Geof" in character and love he was a giant.
