Near miss for Access club in Madeira floods news article
Clube Naval do Funchal (CNF) are based on the island of Madeira and sail three Access 2.3's.
You can see in the photo how close they came to loosing their whole club, boats and equipment and in the other photo of an 2,3 surrounded by mud! inside the building.
Fortunately their boats were safe in the building with CNF on the door.
They were planning to add to their fleet but have put this on hold as the funders have had to put all their available monies into dealing with the flood and landslide disasters.
The photo was sent to us by Charles Lindley who some of you may know from your dealings and visits to Portugal and who is responsible for disabled sailing at the Clube Naval de Cacais, home club of the current Access 2,3 European champion, Bruno Pereira.
Clube Naval do Funchal (CNF) are determined to host the Portuguese Access Championships in 2011.
Charles ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) would be very interested to hear from any UK Access sailors who would be interested in coming to Madeira for that event.
